Oh well... If it is for the support a good company, its ok... Though I don't know a lot about funimation...

My country have the problem of a certain monopoly subbing company that adopted a buy our "dubbed into chinese and then translated to broken english" crap or face legal action policy which led the entire anime community to boycot this company... I hope this funimation is nothing like that...

Looks like I have to open my Japanese dictionary again...

NOOOOOOOOooooooooooooooooo!

NoFunAllowedimation has been ruining my plans since they forced-scrapped the DBZ mod for Quake 3 back in 00'.

I can certainly understand the situation. You can't say anything against Eclipse of Static Subs for the decision they ended up making on this. Though can't hide its disappointing that the subbing had to end for Slayers. This is usually the point where the series would really step up into the seriousness. But guess thats how it goes and we'll just have to move into waiting mode.

Do agree there are likely to be others who fill the gap for the rest of the series. Can say that Funimation took quite a bit of fun out of my day, but hopefully it will all turn out alright. Do have the original series purchased so its not like I'm just downloading without putting anything back.

We also want to set a high quality standard in subs, one that the industry will move towards.
I agree with this statement. I've never really tried fansubs until now, and I must say your subtitles are of very high quality. Funimation is going to look stupid if they put out bad subs in direct comparison, so hopefully they will raise their game.

Thanks again for the great subs, keep up the good work.

I´m from Germany and I´m very sad about this. I like all your fansubs. It was the only source seeing this show. No campany in my country want buying the license for the slayers series. The best thing is that OVA Films a german company stopped the third season of slayers try although the series was completely dubbed. So we never get the next season. I´m not so rich buying every DVD from the U.S.

Wait, there's another option. Just watch the raws XD, if you know Japanese DX. .....Wait, if people started to watch the raws, then they might turn their attention to the capers.

It might happen, but it is doubtful.  Even if it does happen, if previous experience is a guide, it will be weeks or so before anything is done and then you aren't going to get Static's quality.

Just for the record, Slayers REVOLUTION is licensed in the U.S. by Enoki Films USA.  As they did with the first three Slayers TV series, they are looking for someone to do the leg work (translate, market, dub, distribute the title in the U.S.).  Since FUNimation took the first three TV series from CPM, it makes sense that Enoki Films LTD (the parent company in Japan) would ask them to send out C&D letters.  It also stands to reason that FUNimation, while not officially having a license, would be interested in licensing Slayers REVOLUTION.

For the earlier commenter's who remarked on FUNimation having bad translations, they don't for subtitles.  FUNimation's subtitles are the best in the R1 business (though I do wish they'd be a little more fan-centric for some titles but oh well).  You can quibble about their DVD font choices, but not the subtitles themselves (at least, not on the ones done in-house).

For those concerned about it taking a coon's age to see Slayers REVOLUTION in the U.S. officially, I agree with that sentiment.  I honestly don't expect any kind of official license announcement to be made before episode 13 (in my mind, a license announcement is more likely after the series ends as the Japanese may wish to see how the U.S. efforts to combat fansubs of Slayers REVOLUTION play out).  Then, I imagine that there will be delays in getting the title to market, not because of a U.S. licensor, but because of the Japanese (this happens far too often IMO).

Hopefully in the future, a company like FUNimation can put out subtitles at the same time the show comes out in Japan (which they could do considering they'd have the scripts in advance). Then we wouldn't have this problem of starting a series and having it yanked from under our feet.

The saddest thing, when a fansub is blocked by the interests of the few, is for us who aren't from the States. We only lose. ;(

They block free fansubbing, and then? Should we form non english Europe, or them from Asia, or those from South America buy it from them... in english? When our tongue is not english?

If I MUST pay for it, I DEMAND it in my tongue at the very least. Not going to happen? No money from me. X(

Then again, for all they care, we all can go throw ourselves down the tallest bridge, as long they get their bank account up and up. We all know it.

It's sad. ;(
